Quirky Bird Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Nouvelle 2012
From the label
“This quirky bird blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semmillion and Nouvelle is packed with zingy citrus tang and refreshing crispness. Our Quirky Birds don’t like being cellared so drink while young, with friends and any foods that are light and fresh”
The Least of the Quirky Bird Wine Range
A disappointingly lightweight and somewhat bland wine. I normally enjoy South African wines and the Quirky Bird range is generally pretty good but this is far from a stellar example. Pleasant and worth adding to a creamy sauce as the acidity would balance it well.
Not one to take to dinner, stick with the Chenin Blanc. Not for Cellaring but the label is truthful about that much, and I'm afraid i couldn't knowingly give this as a gift
A Crisp and Fresh Quirky Wine
Tesco have done it again, although not my favourite of the Quirky Bird wine range, the Sauvignon Blanc Semillion blend is another winner. Fresh crisp and gently acidic, you could cook with it but why waste it.
A bountiful nose of citrus and passionfruit with a clean fresh and crisp palate that would pair well with fresh seafood, avocado and asparagus. A shame theis lacks the finesse of the other two but well worth gifting. A wine I would happily take to dinner.
